Marks & Spencer Gift Cards and refunds - am I being thick??

    M & S are not doing anything wrong, they have given you a refund to the same source you paid.

    Why should you get a choice as to where the refund goes?

    If they didn't refund to the initial source, what is to stop you getting your refund to your credit card, and then a couple of days later taking the rest of the stuff back and getting the rest of the refund to your credit card, this would then eliminate the gift card from the transaction, leaving M&S open to all sorts of fraud and money laundering possibilities. (in this instance you would just have had the value of the gift card debited to your credit card)
