Hi everyone
New to this site,so hope you can help.
I am in the middle of a claim over my double oven and microwave which caught fire last year. Despite 2 quotes and full detailed breakdown of what the kitchen fitter was going to do, dimension, materials he was going to use, tipping charges, scrap charges, fitting cost......... the list goes on!!, i am still no further forward, until today, nearly 7 months on!!!!
They are saying that the quote has come back and they are able to get the appliances cheaper. My appliances are nearly 11 years old so are no longer available, but to get the equivalent now and same functions etc would cost my kitchen fitter, about £1,000 thats without materials and fitting etc. The total cost of quote is £1500 and that is to take out old appliances, depose, refit microwave and doubleoven into the housing unit( they are not free standing), make good old wooden surround.
I thought it was reasonable but they are not happy.
They have offered me £930.00 cheque and i have all the work done and sort out own applicances or £305.00 and appliances that they have selected as near likeness to mine. The trouble is they have picked a Neff oven and a hotpoint oven. Mine our both Neff and i want it to look the same, obviously!! This is why their appliances were coming up cheaper because they were choosing cheaper brands. I have questioned them about this and they told me that the Hotpoint that they have is similar in functions to mine and that they dont take any notice of brands when they have the level of liabilty assessed!
What i want to know is:
Am i in my rights to demand that i have Neff replacement to the quality that was originally in there by todays models or do i have to have a mismatch of appliances and different brands which they are offering??
All the years i have paid insurance and not had a claim, i think this is terrible to try and bluff me off with cheaper models to save them selves money. I pay for a service which i am not getting.
Can somebody advise me please on where i stand.
Many thanks
