Same here... no voucher0 -
Which supermarkets are you talking about? Mine was ASDA. i bought some fruit museli and it was vile. There was something about a 200% brand guarentee whereby they refund the money you spent twice over! So I rang it. Maybe not all supermarkets will do it? ASDA rocks! Was debt free... then went travelling!0

It was Tesco."Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0

I do know, certainly on the food side, that once you complain, this sets off a whole chain reaction and all complaints are usually investigated right back to the raw material supplier.
I work for a large manufacturing company that makes cleaning & personal care products for all the major supermarkets and I deal with all the consumer complaints, from packaging faults to product performance issues. The supermarket will notify us of a complaint and then send the product in for examination/testing and the results are then passed back to the supermarket to pass on to the customer. If there is found to be a manufacturing fault then we will hold our hands up and tell the supermarket to reimburse the customer, the supermarket will then charge us. However even if there is found to be no fault with the packaging or product, the supermarkets still charge us an admin fee which is anything from £25-£55. As far as I know the general complaints procedure for most manufacturers (don't know about food) is that the compaints ends there.**Trying my best to be the best that I can**

I found a piece of plastic in a spring roll from Tesco's once. I took the pack and the piece of plastic in, and they refunded my money and said they would pass it to head office, and short while later I got a letter and a £10 gift card in the post, which I was very pleased with.My sig's too large, apparently - so apologies to whoever's space I was taking up.:lipsrseal0

Well, I don't know if they swap info but I worked for a frozen food company who always dealt really well with any complaints - refunds, vouchers etc. There were obviously people who took advantage, so information on serial-complainers was kept in-house. One woman tried to claim a piece of glass was found in her frozen peas. But the glass she sent in was crystal and there isn't a scrap of that used anywhere in the manufacturing process....
I'm all for complaining if things aren't up to scratch. But taking advantage like that isn't really on, and fair enough if companies keep info to stop it happening.0 -
Hi,
About 4 years ago a friend of mine bought some cat food from a supermarker (not sure which one). it was one of those pull open packets. The food inside had gone off and these where maggots in the packet. He went straight back to the supermarket to complain. Unfortunately they couldn't help as the manager was off and the asst mgr was not in the store. They told him to come back later with his receipt.
He did go back but with a receipt he'd picked up outside the store (dated the same day) for a hell of a lot more than he bought. They allowed him to take goods to the value of that receipt because he told them his whole shopping had to be chucked because the maggots had gotten everywhere.
He basically got a months shopping for nothing.
Cheers

I didn't even get that when I complained to Tesco about their strawberries being mouldy!! It was the day I bought them, so should have spotted the mould before I bought them...I called their customer care line, and was told to take them back to the shop, which I couldn't do. They refused to help after that.Overpay!0 -
Having said that, I recently sent a packet of crisps back to Walkers as I swear they were ready salted in a cheese and onion packet, and they were awesome. Quick reply and lots of money off vouchers. I sound like a serial (or should that be "cereal") complainer LOL, but I'm not, honestly!!Overpay!0
