Complaint supermarket - 200% brand guarentee!

Hi Everyone,

I don't know if I have posted this on the right place but I this is my first proper 'consumer revenge' mission...

I bought some cereal from a well know 'bottom-slapping' supermarket (their own brand) and it was vile - tasted like rabbit food. I noticed a thing on the side that said if you weren't happy to ring a number and you will receive a refund and a suitable replacement...I rang the number...I complained...my voucher and cash is in the post :D

Anyone else remember their 'first'?!!

I do this all the time and I have done for years. You are right it is so worth doing! The best ones have been for nappies, if there have been any defective nappies in a pack I used to call the freephone number and complain and was always sent vouchers equivalent to 2 new packs. DS2 no longer needs them so I will not have to complain about those any more though!

  • Woohoo!! I got a letter from the supermarket today...enclosing a £4 gift card! I am chuffed to pieces :D

  • I complained about strawberries being out of date, all I got was an apology

  • I'm going to have to do that. It's not so much the quality of the food (most of it's pretty good) it's the bloomen packaging. I'm quite nimble fingered but many, especially the elderly, are not and how some people manage to open some products I'll never know.

Which supermarket was that? I rang the phone number on the side and told them their cereal tastes like rabbit food!

I read somewhere that many supermarkets, and their suppliers, keep a record of 'habitual complainers', and swap information between themselves. Anyone got any firm info on this?
I do know, certainly on the food side, that once you complain, this sets off a whole chain reaction and all complaints are usually investigated right back to the raw material supplier.

If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Possibly but this is the only complaint I have ever made. I wouldn't complain unless I was truly unhappy with a product and I am very happy with the supermarket's response, I shall be slapping my backside whilst spending it!

Tesco! I couldn't believe it. However, I did complain one Christmas I was waiting for an internet delivery to arrive during the hours of 5pm - 8pm or something like that, anyway they arrived at midnight  They gave me £40 worth of vouchers after that one :T

I just rang one supermarket about some tasteless peanuts and didn't say anything about sending me a voucher?

    :(
