How do you get a credit card when you don't have an address

Options
Hi there,

Can anyone help. Approx. five years ago my wife and I sold our home and built a boat to live on. At that time we had a credit card. We now have all our mail sent to a PO Box in our local town which works well. We informed our banks and our credit card company of the change and they have all accepted our new situation. However, we have tried to apply for new credit cards since the change but have been turned down by all financial suppliers including our existing banks etc. The reason for this is that we do not have an address that they can use for credit checking purposes. Despite us offering up personal financial information to prove that we are solvent and a safe bet our requests fall on deaf ears. Can anybody advise us on how we can obtain a competative credit card?

  • Are you on the electoral roll? Without that, don't think you have a chance.

If you are, I'd use that address but probably change at least some of your PO Box addresses to that address first and allow a month for it all to filter through to experian etc. No guarantees mind!
  • Thanks for replying. Will see what we can sort out.
