Deeds..? ? Who do they concern ? ?

We live in a detatched fully owned non estate property in a smallish village .
This year we bought a large motorhome which we use as often as possible for weekends away & holidays, we do have paid locked storage for it but recently as we have been away a lot we keep it on our large drive.
It has come to our attention that a couple of people in the street have complained (to each other ) that it shouldnt be parked there as it says so in the deeds.
( one of which lives so far down the street that they would not even see it !! )
I have my deeds and yes it does say that .... No caravan, house on wheels, van, lorry ,trailer or similar shall be placed or parked on any open aspect of the land hereby conveyed.
I am not disputing this but just wondered who it would concern, the complainers, the main council, local parish council or WHO ??
Hope someone could enlighten me as to what could happen.

  • It will concern whoever it was that put the covenant there in the first place (maybe the developers?) - it is up to them to enforce it if they wish.

It is nothing to do with the council unless it was them who made the covenant in the first place.

    See a lawyer for clarification.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • Depending on how the covenant was worded it may benefit your neighbours - even the one who lives way down the street.

You really need to see a solicitor to get this clarified.
