"Thinking" of going camping with our tent one weekend. I'm in EK so would rather not venture too far as it would only be for a weekend.
Anyone any suggestions for a good campsite?

Wild camping is better, just be prepared & carry everything you might need & don't leave a mess.

We can find the Holiday Parks and Adventure Breaks at South Lanarkshire, East Kilbride. It is a perfect campsite for you and your family if you are still looking. The exact location is Kenilworth, East Kilbride, Glasgow, G74 3PG.

For me, it is much better if you go camping with tent. Tent is like a shelter outside your home. You never know what would happen so tent is for emergency used.

Think it's East Kilbride, may be wrong though.

Have a look on here looks like plenty of reviews which are always helpful.

Try it, you might be surprised.
At that age it is an adventure; gathering wood for the fire, lighting the fire, keeping it going, & cooking over it (although a Camping Gaz Stove really comes into its own here), washing in a burn, finding water, the list is endless.

  • hi, Sundrum in Ayrshire is nice...it is really clean, not too big but still has a club with entertainment, indoor swimming pool and small playpark. There is a nice toilet/shower block with electric sockets in so you can do your hair ! There is a chipshop and small grocer shop. About a 5 minute drive along the road is another spar type shop & offsales. Ayr itself is only a 10 minute drive away. Plus its not too far away from East Kilbride if the weather is rotten and you just want to go home !!

Make sure you find somewhere. Don't go to Irvine beach whatever you do! Me and my friends got chased by gypsies and we ended up setting up camp on a grass verge in Salcotes a few years back!

The only campsites Ive been to are in Callander http://www.immervoulin-caravan-camping-park.co.uk/ and one in Inverarnan which was amazing - http://www.beinglascampsite.co.uk/

We are also in EK and looking for nice sites to take our two for a few nights at a time - Had a look at Witches Craig Campsite just outside Stirling - 40 mins door to door. It wasnt too bag and had a nice play area in the middle of the park. We are thinking of trying that one first. ALso fancied the Forest Holidays site in Aberfoyle.
