    Hello,

There are quite a few different departments that deal with different things so it will depend on your circumstances i.e. are you working, are you ill or disabled? Do you have your own place, is it rented or your own property? Housing and council tax benefits are dealt with by your local council for example whereas JSA is would be the Job Centre+.

You could try the CAB or Welfare Rights but expect a wait for an appointment though this can depend on where you live and how busy they are. You'll find their local offices listed in the phone book or on your council's website.

I'd say in the circs you are not entitled to any benefits as your income is too high

  • lol errrr no, that was just rent/utility bills, I have approx 50k in unsec loans. I didnt mention them before as I didnt think that kind of stuff would be included in benefit calc. Yes I truely wish I have £700 left of my wage aswell, in reality with everything I will probably either have to go IVA or bankrupt.

Why on earth would the government want to help pay your debts?
that makes no difference to benefits, there's nothing your entitled to. Also ad in the 15% of your take home pay you will have to pay your ex for child maintenance

The OP should get 25% discount off council tax as a single adult in the property. He should also get child benefit and child tax credits. I think he might be entitled to working tax credit as well (isn't the earnings limit about £17k?)

Although he should pay his ex wife maintenance for his two year old, couldn't he claim maintenance for his three lads that live with him, from their mother?
