SE wanted to bill me for my electric every 6 months?

I should have got my electricity bill from Ebico/SE by the 5th of this month. Last friday the 23rd I still didn't have it, nothing online and no billing coming through post, so I called them, and someone had switched me to pay my electricity bills every six months, I have never received any letter telling me of the change.
Now I am back to pay every three months but was it a glitch or should I keep a look out for my gas bill too?
There was a discrepancy with my last gas bill, I should have received it by 26th march and had it on the 12th march.
Has that happened to someone else?

Do you pay on receipt of bill?

I think I remember some words about a bill only being produced every 6 months for those who pay monthly by DD. As they only planned to read the meter once every 6 months, the intermediate bill would be an estimate anyway and with monthly payments, the estimated bill is pretty meaningless.

However you should still get a bill every 3 months for those that pay on receipt of bill (If for no other reason it helps the company's cash flow by not giving 6 months credit)

Having said that, a recent gas bill wasn't sent until 6 weeks later than it should have been (it was estimated), but it only covered the period it should have done. i.e. Early December to early March, despite the bill only having been produced last week.
Seems they may have had a glitch in their billing system?
Or perhaps were waiting for a decision on the revised gas prices that eventually never happened?

I only pay on receipt of bill, or when I see the bill online, which might happen before I get the bill through the post.
So it looks like there is a glitch on their system.
The service from the SE staff was second to none though, got my bill online the day after my call, I would hesitate to leave the SE service if Ebico decide to be too greedy and force me to move if their prices stop being competitive.

I had this as well, pay on receipt of bill, was switched to 6 monthly bills for an unknown reason, I would have left it at that if I was getting decent savings rates, but as not, one phone call put me back on 3 month billing

As Spark says, service was just fine, no problems reverting back
