Just remember not to be suckered in by these low prices if you are a real film fan, these cheap releases are "vanilla" discs, meaning you just get the film, no extras, no commentry - nothing.

I looked at the box in Sainsburys last night and it doesnt even look like they have put a trailer or anything on it.

You know that in a months time the two disc special edition one will come out with all the goodies on it, dont play their game of buying this one then getting the decent edition when it comes out.

If you ask me these discs are a rip off.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

Yes - I hate not being able to watch the trailer for a film when I am going to watch the actual film!!

Just to confirm the Bluray is definitely NOT £8 in Asda. That is for the DVD.
  • The Blu Ray will likely have the bonus features, a lot of studios now moving most extras onto those instead and may not even bother with adding much to DVD releases. Though they are very likely to milk this particular film with various media releases

Incidentally iTunes has Avatar available for £10.99 if your more into digital content though anyone looking to go this route may want to wait as sometimes they add some of the Blu-Ray extras

So you've already decided which £600 3D Bluray player you are going to buy then ?

And what about the 3D TV ? Will a 32" be big enough at just £1300 ?
Or are you spending the £5000 needed for a 65" model ?

I am pretty sure you dont need a new 3D TV and "3D Blu Ray" player to watch it in 3D.

There have been 3D Blu Rays in the past and just work on normal TVs and they give you a couple 3D glasses. Dont know how well it works.

E.g. Latest Final Destination was 3D in cinema and a 3D version of it came out on DVD

Some people like me, couldn't give a monkeys about "extras" I must have over a 2000 dvds and have never wanted to watch the film with the directors comments all over it or how they did this that and the other.

I picked up Avatar in Bangkok for £1.50 6 weeks ago great film.
