laying V groove laminate

I'm about to lay some V grooved laminate that is bevelled on both the long and short sides. My question is how to lay for the best finish - I know it's usually advised that laminate is layed like bricks, one full, one half, one full etc. However, would that look too uniform with the V groove ? I'm interested to hear from anyone who has experince of the finished product and whether they'd advise a more random lay.

Ta v. much!

As long as you dont glue it, do a big patch of it and see how you feel, if you dont like it take it apart and rearange it.

Personally speaking random can like wrong sometimes.

It shouldn't be done as one full, one half anyway. What you should do for a properly random effect is to lay the first line of planks on the floor and when you get to the end, cut the last plank to fit, then start the next line with that plank and so on; it is highly unlikely that your room will be sized in such a way as to give you exactly half a plank at the end of each row.

Coulnt agree more with previous poster..............should be laid using the offcut of one row to start next, as long as offcut is sensibly sized and staggers flooring enough so that two 'joins' dont coincide.

V groove (dependent on make) looks fine and the staggering is not really noticed, especially if laying towards the direction of window etc. This way light reflects so that joins are not noticed as much.

    Cheers everone.

I went for random - using the cut off bits and it looks good - a few rows have ended up 'brick like' by accident due to a change in room width and it looks strange so I am going to take up those last few rows and make sure they more random.
