I checked my balance recently and noticed I was many thousands overdrawn.
My heart skipped a beat , i broke out in a cold sweat and felt dizzy. I felt terrible.
A victim of fraud were my first thoughts.
After gathering myself I called my bank to break the bad news.
Explained the situation, and there was a pause, then a the reply,
" We are terribly sorry sir but we recently see that have transfered an ISA youahdwith us out , well we also debited the same amount from your current account"
I couldnt beleive it !!!
Is this sort of banking practise acceptable , am I over reacting , ?
My own bank had put me thorugh a hard time
I have made a complaint via email , but i dont seem to get any response from this.
Is this something thats just an unfortunate banking error ?
Advice greatly appreciated

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago... we transferred £15k into current account to buy a car.. instead of crediting our account they debited it lol... we ended up with a lovely hamper being delivered and a £50 goodwill paymentBit of a Florida Fan :j

FD are quite good by all accounts, so I'm surprised you've had a problem.
Best way to sort it is to call them up and use the words "Formal Complaint". I'm sure they'll sort it out fairly quickly.
Have they corrected the error yet?43580 -
Yes the reason i moved to FD was down to their customer service ,
Error was fixed after a few calls.
Words cannot explain the way you feel when you look at your bank account balance and its states your over £12,000.00 OD !!!0 -
If this had dragged on over weeks, I would probably have escalated it further, but when you look at it, they made a mistake (they can happen to anyone) and they fixed it fairly quickly.
I assume all charges etc were cancelled (if there were any?). If so, I'd put it down to experience, and be glad that they were responsive to the initial phone call instead of leaving you with a bigger headache.43580 -
I agree with Hazzanet.
An error was made, you spotted it and reported it and it was corrected.
You are not injured or out of pocket, you just had a nasty surprise, that's all.
