Have you noticed any changes in his health, or his activity levels?
If not, I would say try not to worry too much. I was the fussiest eater ever when I was little and would hardly touch anything, but because my parents never forced me to eat more I think I just grew out of it.0 -
I've got a 3 year old and he too goes days without eating much and then has a 'feeding frenzy' where he will eat everything and anything you give him. As straws says, as long as he is still active and well in himself and drinking plenty then I wouldn't worry too much. But if you are at all concerned, best thing is to have a word with your health visitorIt's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission

I agree dont worry they will eat as much as they need to grow, just avoid the inbetween snacks unless its fruit or something healthy. so easy to go down the road giving them crisps or other junk on the excuse well they didnt eat their dinner etc. Can become a vicious circle then because they wont want the food you do serve at meal times :mad:0 -

My sister had problems getting her to eat at home but she would always tuck in at my house. We put it down to the fact that my sister tended to prepare individual meals for her at home (her OH works nights so ate at different times). But when she came to my house we would all sit down together along with my two kids. I tended to put food on serving plates and the kids coud help themselves to as much or little as they wanted. I think the competition of other children encouraged her to eat more!Twins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0

Hi everone well he ate most of his tea on friday and the more i prased him for it the more he ate. He sleped at my cousens on firday night and stayed most of saterday. She say he ate vere good at hers but like what prettypennies said my cousen and her kids all eat at a table to gether. I have a table but not been a big eater my self i dont allways eat with him and that is when he tends to mess about more. Iv tried to eat a littel with him e.g he has pie chips and peas and i will just have a pie he will just eat his pie and not much of any thing else. As for him drinking a lot i should of thort that could be filling him up becouse coffee dose it to me. So i will be cuting down on them hes doing quite well today with his food so i fell alot beter today but thinking about it hes only had two drinks so that could be why thanks agen to everone

My youngest son was exactly the same. He would seem to hardly eat at all for three or four days and then he would have a 'hungry' day and would eat non stop. He also drank alot of milk. I think alot of young children go through this and as long as you don't think he is unwell then I wouldn't worry. I don't think I would cut down on his drinks though (unless he is drinking high sugar drinks) as water and milk are very important, with milk being a good source of calcium for growing bones. My son drank alot of milk, but still had his 'hungry' days when he drank the same amount.0

If you do get worried again just pop along to your local health clinic and speak to a health care visitor.
They can measure and weigh your son and provide you with any advice you may need, dont forget to take your sons red book.
