I have Zone Alarm, AVG 7.00 & Ad-Aware SE Personal, and these seem to cover most things.;)0 -

I think I must be a bit more paranoid than Pat, with a teenager using the computer it pays. I use a wirelesss/router/modem, Nortons for firewall/antivirus, spybot S&D, Adaware, Spywareblaster, the M.S./giant and Ccleaner as well as running Hijack this as necessary.
Glad your'e clean.Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0 -

hi again
Thanks for advice-no result as yet.
Internet explorer is now acting strange.
This morning when I tried to connect to Tiscali broadband, the internet connection starts up, but in my connections it says internet connection "disconnected"
However I tried again and now it says connected to tiscali broadband in the usual way
I also noticed in the processe that explorer.exe was going from 1 up to 100 CPU usage before I had even attempted to enter internet explorer?
Any ideas. My next step is to send it in to get looked at
Oh by the way I also recently installed SP2, but explorer was not working properly before this.
I tried to system restore and it wouldnt let meNice to save.0 -
Ive finaly located the critter which is causing the blue box to appear on my homepage and the divider section on my toolbar, its a program called
lop.malware and was installed using Messenger+ which the kids use on MSN
Im having one hell of a job getting rid of it, but I have found advise on
https://www.able2know.com. This has helped me rid the blue advert box along the bottom of the screen and Im now hot on the heels of getting rid of the rest.
The advise on most places Ive visited is very technical (and Im not)- but Im going to have a go at downloading the Hijack peter the planter recommended as a Hijack I think is the only way to get rid of the little critter. Oh the joys of surfing the net. Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -
I would urge caution about removing items with Hijack this unless you are very confident with registry changes. There are forums out there who will hold your hand(proverbially) and give you a step by step guide, it can be a lengthy process.Once clean keep you preventative programs up to date, takes only about 5mins a day.Down south where, unfortunately, the government does remember us.0
