Hi well this is what has happend so far
I have NTL BB so i phoned them to try and get a phoneline from them for the Talk Unlimited deal. But they do not have a phone line free in my area.
So i thought id give BT a ring and get there line rental and get primus option 2. But due to a credit check i need to pay them 50£ upfront and i would not get that back for TWELVE MONTHS. They can sod off if they think they can take 50£ of me stick it in the bank and get a years worth of interest of it.
Is there any other options for me? Im really not sure about the VOIP services because the tesco one i had was crap. I really need a landline because my mobile bills are costing me a fortune.
Any help please.

obviously you have a bad credit history then, hence why they'd ask money upfront.0 -

Cheers for the obvious!
Any CONSTRUCTIVE help?
And i dont see why i would have a bad credit rating as iv never actually had credit in any form. No credit cards etc. Just my Current Account.0 -
How can anyone offer you any constructive help?
You have one option and that involves paying a £50 deposit up front - probably because you have no credit rating yet (we've all been there). You refuse to do that.
As there are no other opitons, surely that's the end of the matter?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Constructive help?
Well you're the one with the issue, you're not prepared to pay £50 upfront for a landline?
There are no other options for a landline.
How come you didnt question why NTL werent in your area as much as BT asking for a £50 upfront fee?

I don't know if they would still require this deposit if you go on the BT Pay&Call option.
You might like to ask.
Not available with broadband on the line, however.0 -

Im not sure about that as i believe you give them credit up front for calls to make i think. Sorta like a pay as you go mobile? Bloody expensive i guess. Plus all i want was the line rental so i could get the primus option 2 offer.
So there are no other firms i could get line rental with then?0 -

OK. The problem is the £50. Fair enough.
Why not use the £50 you made on ebay when you sold the NTL STB?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
