As title says...i have been married for yonks, but now im living alone,my water is on a meter so that will naturally reduce, but i wondered if there is any discount on gas/elec for single home owners, like council tax..

i would rather ask you lot than go through the rigmarole of calling them and talking to computer!!

No your gas and elec is charged on consumption same as water, so would most likely reduce a bit naturally.

If you're aware that your water will reduce because it's on a meter, then surely you must be aware that your electric & gas will reduce for the same reason? - You DO know they are metered don't you? If not, then maybe it is time to hunt down your meters and check them against a recent bill to make sure that you don't owe them or they don't owe you.

Unfirtunately it doesn't work like that. You still end up heating a full tank of hot water, still need to heat the same number of rooms. The difference is relatively small, hence single person households are known to be at risk of fuel poverty.

But you should be able to reduce the amount of time any immersion heater is on.

They wont charge you less because you are a single person household, but you will pay a bit less because you have 1 less shower a day to pay for, making one less cup of tea etc. But budget to spend almost the same as a 2 adult household and you wont go far wrong

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

OP you pay for what your use, if you want to pay less either shop around or use less energy its that simple :D

no its not a joke...i am still using the same street lights, dustbin emptying, pavements etc but im now paying £40 less a month in council tax!..i was only wondering if there was a standing charge that was reduced for single person, obviously not usage.
The water meter i have, has part of the bill, that takes into account if you have 2-3-4 bedroomed house etc and charges differently for each,gas/elec dont do this either.

    sorry for asking!!
