Agas are the rolls royce of range cookers!
Re oil consumption ... according to my Aga/boiler maintenance man, they're supposed to be quite efficient. Aga claim that too, but then they would. Certainly, we use far, far more oil in the winter when the central heating boiler kicks in - that certainly does drink oil
The Aga uses roughly 50ltrs per week, for all cooking and all hot water (more hot water than I can use, so the surplus fuels the towel rail). This works out at about £18pw (all cooking and all hot water).
Once the central heating boiler is in use, I reckon our oil consumption pretty near doubles
I have no idea how that compares to other methods. I have little option but to use oil as we have no mains gas in the village. Having said that, I would never cook with anything other than an Aga
p.s. still don't know what the OP means by "Farmhouse range cooker"
Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
