New Deal - Follow Through question.

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the follow through part of New Deal.

On the direct.gov site it says:

The final stage of New Deal

If you’re aged 18 to 24

If you still have not found a job, the final stage is ‘follow-through’. This will give you extra help and support to look for work. This stage can last for up to 26 weeks.
If you’re aged 25 or over

If you still have not found a job, you will need to make a new claim for Jobseeker’s Allowance. At this stage, you will join ‘follow-through’ which could last between 6 and 13 weeks. Your Jobcentre Plus adviser will help you try to find a job. You may have to take short courses to give you more skills.

Now i'm 19, and am on the Old New Deal as i live in Warrington. The question i have is how long can the 'follow-through' period last for? Direct.gov says up to 26 weeks for people aged 18-24, however i've heard some people saying up to 13 weeks, and others saying up to 6 weeks? Which is right? I'm assuming the Direct.gov one?

The max is 26 weeks, what does it matter? You're grateful for the extra help and support surely?
