I would like to say, please, please, check all they will do is done before you hand over your money. We're into the third week since buying a used car and still waiting for them to complete the works which they wrote down on the Vehicle Preparation report at the time we took a test drive. Don't let them con you into buying "Autoglym" what a joke. When we questioned why the car was still dusty, the manager came out with a cloth and said "look, its nothing, you can wipe the dust off" eeermm excuse me but it cost over £250 for the Autoglym??? Its not the only problem. We have been told by parts: "We're not sure how long it will take", "I've never done this before", "The part came in today that's why we haven't done it" (despite being told by another person that the part was in for days! This was a very special purchase for us and they have turned it into a very stressful situation.

Autoglym? Like, polish? £250? Even assuming that's another word for a full valet - and I mean full - wheels off, engine, upholstery, the works - and it's not something they should do anyway (it is), £250 is monstrously outrageous. In fact, I think I've probably misunderstood.0

Is it a main dealer?
As art says, autoglym is just the name of a car product range. Do you mean they flogged you the paint protective spray service they offer? If the car has got dust on it I cant see why that would be a problem?
Have you paid all your money up front then?0 -
Its called "AutoGlym LifeSHINE" Protect your car and investment. Protects your car for up to 10 years, I feel even more upset after reading the posts.
It wasn't just volcano dust, it was dust they had to wipe hard.0 -
Yes, its the main dealer at Halifax.0

your car isn't an investment is it?...work permit granted!0 -
It will have been wax dust. It clings, probably because of the static. I always remove all dust with a soft rag but I guess £250 didn't cover that. Also, I'm not sure what this Autoglym thing claims, but a permanent wax covering is flat out impossible. A wax on a vehicle exposed to everyday weather conditions will last 3 or 4 months, tops. Basically these guys washed and waxed your car and charged you £250.0

Thats the point, they haven't. In my time we've had many a car valeted.
Its not just the autoglym its all the other stuff we have to keep taking it back for. They pass the book and not one of them knows what the other is doing. Who wants to be spend days in the VW garage arguing and writing to forums for advise? Its making my stomach turn knowing I have to take the car back and deal with them again.0 -
Personally Id have not paid the money until all the things they had promised to fix had been fixed. Have you spoken to the manager about this? If you are not happy tell him you will be contacting VW H.O. about it.
I got a new VW in September - turned down the paint protection thing - thought I wouldnt need it for a while and if I did need it Id find a local company to do it for half the price - ditto the interior protection they offer. But it wont stop dust on the car, I think you are worrying too much about that aspect.
But for all the other stuff - why dont you say you want a courtesy car while the car is finished off completely, as agreed. Then you wont be traipsing back and forth.0 -
Yep, incompetent dealers. That's why I always buy private0
