Have u looked on ebay? I did and found lots of sofa covers to fit for £30 - £60., it would cost u that for good quality upholstery material.., altho the throw idea is a good one too. I am not sure if the models shown are the same as the one u have already. If not, try mailing the traders and see if they do a cover for the model u want.

    Hello everyone

Thank you for all the ideas:TIt really has given me loads of food for thought. I have looked at Ebay;) Its looking like Im going to go with a throw. But Im going to leave it for this week and revisit it next week when Im a bit more clear headed. Of course I will come back when Ive made a decision and let you know the outcome.

I've always thought throws look very effective until someone sits on the chair. You end up forever pulling it from between cushions, down the back, hoiking it back up etc.

From a look at a picture of your sofa, my inclination would be to start by just recovering the loose back and seat covers - they should be fairly simple to make basic covers for. Then you could use a big flat square bit (maybe even the throw you've got tired of forever rearranging) to drape across the sofa up from the floor, across the seat under the cushions, up the back under the cushions and over the top. If you have the back to a wall so no-one can see it, you could just roughly tack it in place so it won't slide.

Then, when the cushion making's given you a bit of confidence in your abilities, then you could tackle making some end caps for the arms. You'd need a piece the shape of the front of the arm and an oblong that you could stitch all along the long side, round the the shape of hte front piece.

That way you'd get most of the sofa covered up in a fairly fitted way that would stay in place when you sit on it!
