mortgage free wishes

For some motivation for all those involved with trying to clear their mortgages, I just thought it might be a good idea for people to tell us what they are aiming for by paying off their mortgage early.
I am still undecided yet, some days I want to buy a house in France in the future, some days I want to buy another house to renovate and other days I just dream of having loads in the bank!!!:j

    Great thread idea bobbybobby...

    My reasons are simples...

The thought of not paying more than I need to for a loan and secondly to not have the worry that if one day I lost my job, I would potentially lose my house...

Being able to make my own decisions without feeling threatened by the actions of my employers...
  • The main reason for me is freedom of choice - by the end of this year I hope to have cleared my mortgage. Im the same as you bobby in that Im not exactly sure what I'll do, one thing I do know is that I wont be selling this place having worked so hard to pay it off

I could rent this place out and change jobs/buy in a new location if I wanted to without worrying about my existing mortgage. Also love the idea of getting a place abroad. Or I could just stay where I am and find something else to do with the extra money!

    I for one cant wait!

I don't necessarily want it all paid off as quickly as possible. My main aim is for me to be at home with my boys while they are small, and for as long as possible, and if i remove the expense of the mortgage we can achieve this.

Of course paying it all off would be great though. :D
