Hi This may seem a silly question. I need to top up the oil in my Vaxhall vectra 1.6 6v Automatic car. We have looked at the hand book and are now totally confused. The Motorist accessory shop person, hasn't a clue either. Does anyone have an idea please.
The Garage usually does the oil topping up or changes it for me, however as the garage is closed ( Saturday and Sunday ) and i need to get to work before the garages are open, coming back home when they are shut. I will need to top up the oil. sorry about rabbiting on. Can anyone help please.

If you mean the engine, any 10-40 semi synthethic will be ok.

Thank you Mikey72 and Molerat. your both real stars, it did seem a stupid question, however hubby said that i would need a different sort of oil as i have an automatic car.
Well thanks again. I am now popping off to the car accessory shop to get some, before it closes.20p savers club

If your husband thinks the gearbox makes a difference to the engine oil a vehicle requires, never let him lift the bonnet—ever.0

Glad to be of help, there's no such thing as a stupid question, (but sadly there does appear to be a stupid answer above though)0 -
10W 40 is pretty standard and cheap, best bet is possibly Asda or Wilkinsons btw. I would give you some of mine lol, our garage is full of odd bottles of the stuff.0
