Scottish Power price cut
I must be missing something here, I thought SP online saver tariffs were a discount against the standard tariff, so why would they not be affected by a price cut, any ideas?
I noticed this on the SP site.
When does the gas price decrease come into effect?
The decreased prices will come into effect for affected domestic gas customers on 31st March 2010.
Will all gas customers be affected?
Why has ScottishPower taken longer than other suppliers to announce this price decrease?
We are committed to giving our customers a good deal - that’s why we took the time to review our prices carefully to ensure we continue to offer value for money.:rotfl:

The existing saving will be already much larger than the guaranteed saving. They are not trackers. For example, it may be guaranteed to be 'at least 3% cheaper until 31 Mar 2011' but if it is already 17% cheaper than the standard tariff then there will be no adjustment. In fact, they are free to increase the price whilst simultaneously decreasing the standard tariff.0

I am struggling with that concept, I need to dig out the T&C but I assumed that it kicked off 3% lower than standard, I can't see why they would reduce it more than the adverts inferred (e.g. to -17%).
I have just checked on a price comparison website and my tariff is around 8% cheaper than standard, I am surprised, I suppose I did think I was on a tracker albeit with a 3% discount.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is.
