I also just come back from The Dom Rep, And let me to you if it was not for thompsons we would of been in a real fix, We booked our holiday on here, our flight was with thopsons and our hotel was with Thomas cook:mad:
We did not know till after we booked that this was the case as we had a real bad time with thomas cook over xmas.
We gets to the hotel to be told that you are not booked into here as thomas cook do not use this Hotel and have no right in selling this hotel to there customers:eek: the lady on the desk was real helpful and told us that this had happened many times before and they where really fed up with T/C. Anyway she gave us a suite in there sister hotel which T/C do have rooms in but at a much cheaper price than we payed :mad: But (Thank you Isabel).
When we asked the T/C rep what was going to happen she turned to us and others and said as from 12 tommorrow you are on your own !! and walked off. my partner was comming back to the room when he saw the Thompson rep he explained what had happened and she said we where not to worry as Thompsons would take care off us :T our rep pauline was fantastic with everyone even people who where really rude to her, they moved us all into another 5* hotel A/I and was informed daily as to what was happening she stayed even when she should of been off to help people out, she also shopped for a couple who had a baby and had run out of nappies and other things. Would we off got that of a Thomas Cook Rep.....No not a chance i think they will of lost a lot of custom through all of this. and i for one will be pleased.

Your issue here is with who you booked your holiday with, you say you booked it on here well thats who should have sorted it,(what was the name of who you booked with). It seems from what your saying it wasn't actually a package but something that was put together for you so really you were lucky any rep actually gave you their services as you hadn't actually paid for any. The reason the thomsons rep helped you is because it was their flight you were using and they had to get you home one way or another, but i bet thomsons didnt pay for your hotel did they, just help you find some where else to stay.
The problem nowadays is unless people are in the know when you buy a holiday on the net, teletext, phone unless the person tells you its components put together you dont know its not a package.0 -
I'm happy to report that Easyjet put 2 friends in a seafront 4* hotel with meals (including wine!) all paid. They were very disappointed when their flights were rescheduled.0
