Pinesolutions.co.uk - not sure if this is praise or a warning!

After reading about people's woes buying from Oak Furniture Land (who were fine when we ordered), we found recommendations for Pinesolutions.co.uk. We've recently moved, and needed to buy several pieces of furniture.

I paid for express delivery, so the furniture would arrive the following day, which it did. It seems quite rare for furniture to be delivered this quickly. The delivery drivers were polite and took the furniture to the room upstairs despite it being awkward.

However, on assembling the bed, it was found that it just didn't fit together right. There was a large gap on the brackets holding the side rails to the head and foot of the bed.

I called straight away, and suggested I send photos of the problem by e-mail - just to check I wasn't missing something. I did this straight away. They said they would call me back.

I had no reply or call in 24 hours, so I called back. They said they hadn't received the photos, so I sent them again. They said they'd call back.

Again, a day passed with no call, so I called them. This time I was offered either a discount or a replacement bed.

I opted for a replacement bed, and was assured that the replacement would be fine. I asked for them to refund the express delivery charge, as I had not received the described goods next day. They did this straight away.

They said someone would call me back to arrange delivery of the replacement bed. Again, nothing - this time for 4 days! I e-mailed the head of customer services and CEO and got a call pretty sharpish after that.

The replacement bed was delivered several days later. On assembly, I found it had exactly the same issue as the previous bed.

So all that time was wasted. You think they would have checked the replacement for issues.

So I call again, to find out what they are going to do. I'm told someone will call back. Again, I wait 24 hours, hear nothing.

So another e-mail to the head of customer services and CEO, and I get a call back quickly.

This time they ask what I want. I say a 25% discount, which they quickly agree to and refund.

So the bed needs modification so that it fits together correctly, it's only an hours work.

The rest of the furniture is good quality and well priced.

But the communication of the customer services department when something does go wrong is really poor. I don't mind when someone says "call us back tomorrow and we'll give you an update", but it winds me up no end when people say they will call back and don't.

On the whole, the experience was satisfactory - the furniture is worth it if you don't mind the possibility of messing around a bit. I'm neither here not there, but would probably order again.

Just an update - ordered again. Delivery was here at 0701 on Saturday, after the driver called at 0630 to warn me that he was the first delivery. We bought from a cheaper range this time, so the construction is more basic, but still very well done.

Not worth the saving of money for the trouble to clean up your browser.

Here is the blurb from the spam company pinesolutions are using:

The heart of the MyThings solution is the Recommendation Engine, which uses state of the art machine learning techniques to deliver uniquely tailored display ads, micro-optimised in real-time to each prospect.
Leveraging data automatically collected, the MyThings Recommendation Engine predicts the product, service, offering or promotion most likely to interest the prospect, factoring in promotional preferences like incentives or cross-selling.
The results – Increased ad relevancy and triple-digit conversion uplift
    Here’s how it works:
As visitors enter an advertiser's website, they are tagged with a simple smart cookie.
When they later enter any ad network site, MyThings spots them. Based on aggregated anonymous data, MyThings recommendation engine selects the offers most likely to appeal for each visitor.
MyThings creates, in real-time, a personalised banner - custom-created with product data, graphic layout, pricing and additional information from your website.
This banner is served to each individual as a personalised shopping window - enabling instant conversions.
