Can you use garotta instead of Bokashi bran?

I don't know the science in much detail. Garotta introduces organisms to break down green and brown waste in a hot bin. Bokashi 'bran' ferments cooked and uncooked waste. It looks and smells like sweet wheaty sawdust, Garotta feels like gritty lime or bonemeal.
I'd guess that they are very different agents, doing different things.
It would be great if someone hit upon a cheaper alternative to Bokashi's 'Weetabix' - like Garotta or something similar. Would you consider trying it and seeing how it goes? The worst that can happen is that you'd have to chuck it away or rebuild it using the Bokashi stuff. But if it works then you'll do us all a favour!

I have only just started to fill my first bin so not really sure what iam doing yet and not made any compost using Bokashi but I do have 2 bins so will try Garotta on the other 1.
Bear in mind it may take some time but will update in a few weeks if you like.
The other thing I was thinking is mixing it together to make the Bokashi last longer as well.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0
