Hi, am considering switching from BG click 6.
A check of the comparison sites shows OVA marginally cheaper, but the current topcashback offering of £130 makes SP considerably cheaper (in the first year anyway).
I'm not a serial switcher, I have been with BG for 5 years since moving into my current home, so I don't plan to switch again any time soon. With BG, I like the fact that the meter is read every three months without fail, but HATE the way BG constantly introduces new online tariffs and leaves customers on previous tariffs playing catch-up. You can see from the fact that I am still on click 6, while BG are now on WS7, that I am not a good player at that game.
I am tempted by OVA with its transparent pricing structure, straightforward approach, and UK call centres, but the financial saving with SP (taking into account the cashback) is also tempting.
Any comments, pointers, tips, experiences re these two providers, to help me make up my mind, will be very welcome.
Many thanks

Are ovo good?
I've arranged a switch to Ovo, did the switch through Energyhelpline and got my welcome email through from Ovo with 14 hours, telling me exactly what was going to happen, how much my direct debit would be etc.
First impressions seem good, I like the clear way of billing - standing charge, single unit rate - no stupidly complicated discounts (have you seen the way BG apply the discounts on the websaver tariff??) so it should be easy to work out exactly what things are going to cost.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Thanks for the reply. I am leaning towards ovo at the moment, due to the fact that what you see is what you get. No complicated dicounts or cashback that are applied monthly or offered after the first year to consider. Maybe i will see if i can get cheaper electric elsewhere and take ovo's gas.In Progress!!!0

ovo is also more expensive for me for electricity, but I understood that ovo don't do gas only - just dual fuel or electricity only. Am I wrong on this?I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0

Just bumping this thread - am leaning towards SP on price, are there any SP customers out there who can tell me what they are like? I particularly do not want to go to another energy company who are constantly changing their tariffs like BG

I went with SP in the end as the cashback made it cheaper. In Progress!!!0

Yes I have just taken the plunge and gone with SP as the bills were around £100 cheaper than BG for me, plus £130 from Topcashback.
I've never switched energy providers before but if it all goes well, maybe I'll be more pro-active in the future.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
