Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning, everyone  I was up early (decluttering some thoughts into a letter to the local paper and one of the election candidiates  ) so thought I'd pop in and say hello to old friends and new

We had a lovely day in the garden yesterday. The plants are coming along beautifully, and we're on top of the weeds :T We'd like to get out today, to mow the lawn, and replace a path that's become overgrown :(

DD was asked to work late yesterday, so we had supper when she got in, and watched Dr Who. I used the age-old tactic of protecting myself with a cushion, but was so scared that next week, I may have to push the sofa forward so that I might hide behind that :o :rotfl:

I had friends round, and tried a new cake recipe, served with cream, tinned peaches, and frozen raspberries. I was sceptical about the 75ml water  but it was the lightest, fluffiest cake, and using eggs from our new hens, it was almost fluorescent yellow :D

We're having HM chicken liver pate for lunch (I won;t forget, as I smell the garlic from it each time I open the fridge :p ) and belly pork, slow roasted with root veg for supper. I might even pull the first of the rhubarb from the garden.

Have a wonderful Old Style day, everyone!

Penny. x

    Morning lovely OS-ers!HSINhouseWindow02HL.gif
Hi Penpen - I imagine you are off finding the sticky and typing your message as there is nothing in the box but good morning.. :rotfl::rotfl:
LadyGrim - hugs.gif Hope the week goes as well as it can.
Mioliere - No, the Dr won't prescribe it without a letter from the hospital (as I suspected) so waiting for them. Luckily the clinical nurse I spoke to seemed rather concerned that two weeks down the line I have not taken it. Glad your family are with you, that is lovely for you.
Lowesy - Really pleased you got your sister sorted out
Penpin - I hope you are feeling better
LindyLoo - Hope your neice has started to eat again
JackieG - Get well vibes for your back hon
    Cranky - hugs
Emptypockets - Hope your doggie is feeling better
JackieO - Glad you had a good holiday and your grandson was lucky too as Torquay was hot and sunny for the last fortnight (I am not far from there), though not sure it has the same attractions as NY!
SunnyGirl - we have had to use the hose for the last week or so as the water butt was emptied and the sun keeps shining. There was no way I was going to lose my new cherry tree!
HShungry.gif Breakfast will be weetabix again as the milk is good for me! Apart from that I have very little interest in eating right now which is very unlike me.
Had a horrible 24hrs so hoping today to get into the garden and pot up my dwarf green beans that are defying their name and bursting out all over!:rotfl:
With love, light and warm gentle HShuggies.gif to anyone who wants one.

    Morning people.

We had 5.6mm rain last night which was the first rain in 17 days, so very welcome and should get things going.

Nothing much new here. Church today and invited out for roast lamb dinner... :D Then we have an election forum with all the local candidates answering questions. Should be fun. I put in a few loaded ones that should get a few squirming I hope....

    Coffee pot is on....

    Cheers

    Morning all

We had rain too for the first time in ages. It woke me up in the middle of the night! It's still raining now but it's drizzle not proper rain.

I was awake at 6am today - my brain has no idea that it should let me sleep in on weekends! Tomorrow I have to get up at 6am but you can guarantee my brain won't want to then!

Today's plans include dry laundry indoors (WM is on now), go to gym, hoover, put yesterday's laundry away, buy some proper running shoes and update my Ipod.

Breakfast will be fruit salad, lunch salad with couscous and hardboiled eggs, dinner mash, veggie sausage peas and onion gravy.

    Have a good Sunday all

You might snigger, but MRL are a party before their time :D How we laughed when Screaming Lord Such said that his party would introduce a website for the Queen ..............

I'm not fed up with the election at all, as you ask - off to a BBC Local Radio Question Time tomorrow; can't wait :j

Morning All, hope everyone is well this morning.

Woke up early again today, the only day this week that I didn't have to get up for work or take DD to work and I wake up at 5.45 again!!

Still, have stripped my bed and put that in the WM and just about to do some baking for the week ahead.

Taken the net off the pond - we have 3 ducks taken up residence here and yesterday 2 of them were on the water. They had got under the net and then one got stuck. Decided that they could swim safely (hope they don't eat the fish). Just need to watch for the Heron! There's always something isn't there?

May have a visit to Glasgow later to meet up with DS1 and GF and have a bit of retail therapy (that wont last long - get fed up very quickly with the shops).

    Have a good Sunday all!

    Good morning.

It's looking drizzly here too but we got everything done in the garden yesterday and the rain will do it good :)

Nobody else is awake yet so I'm making the most of the peace & quiet while I can. Lunch today is gammon, new potatoes, peas, carrots & parsley sauce. I cooked the gammon overnight in the slow cooker on a bed of onions, carrots & celery and some water, it smells lovely now and is making me hungry already :rotfl: Tea will be cheese & biscuits followed by fruit salad.

I have some ironing to do, my sandwiches to make for the week ahead and a general dust & vaccum through the house today.

DS3 & I loved Dr Who last night too and jumped a few times and shouted out as well :D Can't wait for next weeks episode.

Hugs to anyone who needs one today and hope that the poorlies soon feel better. Have a good day whatever you end up doing xxx

    Morning :hello:

We've just had to put net over the pond, caught a gull eating one of the fish  Mogs tried to scare him away, but he just ignored her.

Veg patch and greenhouses are all planted :T Herbs are doing well in their pots. Looks like a proper garden again :D

The hens are getting along quite well, though Harry and Mogs like to keep the younger ones in their place :D The older girls have stopped trying to get into their old house to lay, they're actually going into the nesting box in their shed.

Mr tru has been off work this week, the house is a tip so I'll get stuck into that - tomorrow :D

Mr tru made bread and rolls last night - yummy. I'll be having sandwiches for lunch. Probably for tea too, lol.

It rained last night, so I'll do some weeding today. Much easier to pull out weeds when the ground's wet.

I know taking my jeans off without undoing them was good, but thought the REAL test would be putting them back on the same way. And I could :j :rotfl:

    Good Morning Everyone,

Up early for me this morning. Back was really sore during the night, and never slept much at all, was back on here at stupid o'clock! Saw OH out the door to work, poor man looks exhausted, I shall have to make him something fabulous for his dinner and perhaps a lemon cake, which is his current favourite.

Diva glad to see you are doing OK. I worry though that you aren't resting enough?

N9eav and PP I too am fascinated by the elections, and actually am of the opinion that an hung parliament may be good for the country, as we may see more balance in the policies introduced, my only worry is that they would all be so busy worming up to each other, or arguing like children, that nothing of substance will get done. I don't have any wish really for the coubtry to become a Republic, but I do wish we could vote directly for our leader, as I think the election results would be very different if that were the case! It should be very interesting over the coming days anyway.

I too enjoyed Dr Who, and it was the first one DS2 sat through without running away! Braver than his mum, though!
I am jealous of those of you with ponds, how lovely. Camelot where do you live if you don't mind me asking? I am on the South East of Glasgow (not really Glasgow actually, which makes me a fibber!).

DS2 was the highest scorer with 12 goals yesterday, and their team came second, he was so delighted, and proud of his medal. "Do you think it's real gold, mum?" Bless, he went to bed with it under his pillow. I did eventually get out yesterday to B&Q but it was an ordeal and I was in a lot of pain. However, I did get 12 heathers reduced to £1 for the spot by my new patio that I had earmarked for such a plant as it's north facing, so that was very MSE. Also got some gorgeous slate stepping stones reduced to £1 from £3.49, and some broken ones for 50p, to replace some of the path which has been removed, so a very healthy garden makeover, over the last threee week has cost me £26.00 all in, including plants, which if you saw the before and afters, your would never believe!:money:

Washing in, but will be dried on the horse as we too have rain, bathroom and loo to clean and some sewing and mending to do, easy stuff to do on your bum! The smallest of my lovely boys also needs a haircut, so clippers out for that, I have to do it with him naked, as he hates the hairs on him, and no matter how I do it, they always end up down the little wrigglers clothes, then he gets hoovered, and thrown in the shower! :rotfl::rotfl:

What an epic novel, I shall cut and paste this time in case I lose it!

Have a great day all, hugs for LadyGrim and PenPin, and anyone else in need. Hope your new Granddaughter is doing well, Hillstep. Has anyone seen Pipkin lately? She hasn't been on in a while, I'm sure she was going for some treatment or other. Hugs to you too, if you're just lurking, hope you're OK - I think of you but always forget to post this question.

    Hugs, Jackie X

Edited to say, Oo-er Hester that made be blush! :o:rotfl:

    Morning all
Raining here today, which is good as the garden needs it & I managed to get all my washing dry yesterday. Nothing will wipe the smile off my face today as what Lame Wolf referred to as 'Hester moments' have been in short supply round here, not, as you may think, because hubby has been working a 12 hour day & worked Monday to Saturday, but actually because he had an arguement with a zip (cue lots of wincing) but everything has healed nicely now!
    Anyway back to oldstyle.
    Breakfast was bacon & egg
Lunch/dinner will be roast turkey, roast pots, veg, stuffing balls, & pigs in blankets.
I shall make a banana loaf to take to work tomorrow, with some squishy bananas that are past their best.
I shall have a fairly lazy day as I got a lot done yesterday & will knit a few more rows of a preemie body warmer & read a few more pages of Shakespears Secret.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
