Having waged all-out war on cabbage whites last year, I've decided to resort to insect netting for this summer. But Agralan Enviromesh is a silly price. Has anyone found an alternative at a more affordable price?

Try debris netting, look round your area for scaffolding up and ask what they do with the netting when their finished. Alot of firms just throw it away.

Debris netting can also be bought cheaply off ebay I am told.

Beware about using enviromesh, I'm starting to go off it a bit, if some insects do get underneath it and you can bet they will, they find a protected predator free environment. It's worth checking underneath every few days to see what's going on.

Last year the whitefly had a massive party under mine. A larger mesh just to keep out the butterflies may be better.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

I had all the mesh off the refurbishment of a large Victorian station. They were pleased not to need a skip for it!
