Up by well over 10% round my way, and anything that comes on is gone literally within days.

My next step on the housing ladder will be up - I'd therefore like to see house prices stagnate or experience a small decrease.

Well technically only the owners..... Renters, not so much.

But the average homeowner is now worth approximately £17,000 more than they were a year ago.

Which equates to roughly 38,850 cadbury Twirls.......

Whereas the Sunday Express owner is only richer by 1 cadbury Twirl......;)

    Well.....

Everyone needs somewhere to live, so it's irrelevent to the majority of homeowners, furthermore it's bad news for all those looking to climb the ladder.

Actually it's very relevant and great news for the several million people with a mortgage that previously had less than 40% equity, as it will open up the next teir of better rates for most of them.
furthermore it's bad news for all those looking to climb the ladder.

And also great news for the many millions in their "family" home whose next move will be to downsize....

But absolutely great news for all those in their "family" home whose next move will be to downsize....

I expect many of them will be looking for bungalows, they're not building many of them. What with the baby-boomers retiring, they're going to have trouble downsizing to suitable accomodation, unless they desire a rabbit hutch.
