Potatoes - Which type?
Hi everyone,
I'd quite like to plant some salad potatoes for the summer. I realise it's quite late now but I would still like to try some.
So, anyone know a good variety that I can still plant now and harvest in the summer? I will be putting them in those planters that you continue to top up with more compost as it grows.
We're jersey royal fans in this house so anything I can plant that will be like those?
Thanks,
Kevin

You've left it too late to chit them, but that needn't be the end of the world. Some garden centres still have seed potatoes left unsold, so you might even get them cheap. Charlotte could be a good choice.
As for Jersey Royal potatoes, I tried growing International Kidney last year, the variety supposed to be used on Jersey. In my opinion they didn't taste like Jerseys but, in fairness, neither did the ones I bought from the greengrocer - and nor have they for the last decade or so!0 -
International Kidney (Second early)Charlotte (Second early)Pink Fir Apple (Late maincrop)Juliette (Early maincrop)Belle de Fontenay (Early maincrop)Anya (Second Early) Get these from T&M or search the names elsewhere. Jersey Royals grow your own and the taste/flavour will better them.
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0
