British Gas Price Protection 2010

Options
My electricity contract with BG is about to end at the end of the month and they've sent me 'an offer' of price protection to 2012 at a premium of 4% on top of the current standard rate.

Seems poor to me.
What are others going for?

There are several current threads on just this issue.

The concensus is that it is a very poor deal.

Who to switch too depends on your level of consumption. For myself as a high user I am going to OVO.

A couple of us are going to see if we can get BG to keep us on our present tariff - in line with the ofgem ruling - while the switch is pending.

Sorry, I had assumed you used gas and electricity and OVO has very cheap gas. OVO's electricity is not so competitive.

I suggest there is not much point in asking for recommendations. If 99% of people were happy with BG, that would still mean 180,000 were unhappy; and they are the ones who tend to complain.

i`ve been offered this deal too, you`ve got till the end of may to change to a different tariff.

    im a bit torn,

    priceprotection 2010 = £650 a year for gas&elec
    new 2012 deal =£1020
    websaver 7 =£800

bg now has the tariff in their quote system online if you know your current usage

anyone know if gas prices are going up or down??

OVO seem to think they are going up.:D

Its a mystery none of us know until close to the time that they are, You will start to see fixed price tariffs appearing soon.

IMO I don;t think prices will rise until next year but who am I after all :p
