Isn't it usually best to use the windscreen repairer that your car insurer recommends? Works out cheaper doesn't it? I'm insured with Tesco and so have to use Autoglass. Check your policy document it should tell you on that, failing that phone your insurer.

autoglass arent they only about £50 for a chip to be fixed, depending on what is wrong with it!
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • i just went on autoglass website - if not covered on insurance - its £72.50 + vat - is that a rip off or just me?

Depends if you have a £700 heated windscreen that is not covered on your insurance.

  • hey turns out it is covered on my insurance and the windscreen actually needs replacing - my insurance cover says i have a £75 excess for windscreen replacement - my Q is if i do it through my insurance and get the windscreen replaced - does that mean i will lose my 5 yrs no claims?

No windscreen claims are normally excluded

be aware that it may be logged as a claim though which you will have to declare.

why does it have to be replaced?
did the nominated supplier say that?
maybe get Glas Weld to give an opinion it may save you the £75 and the claims history as well
