Can we move away from the toilet theme please? I won't lie, I'm a bit phobic: in, do the necessary, out again asap. No sitting there for hours for me.

  • My Brother is a big fan of ready meals in particular currys, I got him to save the plastic trays they come in for us.

Once washed out they make fab organiser trays for draws especailly as the curry trays tend to have 2 sections.

You can get those on Amazon :D I had a quick look for toilet bidets and they popped up :rotfl:

When caught short for a shower, or maybe just couldn't be bothered on a lazy day off... Use baby wipes.

A friend of mine went on the Trans Siberian Express, coach class, and swore by them as there were no showers or indeed BIDETS, on a four day journey.

I confess to using them now and again when at home and not expecting visitors, or going out.

I hope I will not be called the unclean queen! Saves on the hot water too.

Don't forge thin layers of clothes will keep you warmer than one thick layer. Try using summer vests/t-shirts as a layer under your top.

If you're using your oven, try cooking as much as you can but also turn the oven off a couple of minutes before things are cooked. You'll save energy.

What appliances do you leave switched on overnight? Most of us leave the broadband switched on overnight. SS works nightshift (when he's not working he's a night owl) so I normally switch off the broadband before I go to bed. Everything else gets switched off (except the fish tank pump).

Don't get sucked into buying DVD's or pay per view films. Most sites do a free trial and there are also some free films to download out there (Home Alone was free to download on iTunes over xmas not sure about now though).

If you have a strong colour of paint left over you can add white paint to it and it'll give you a new pastel shade, enough to decorate another room. White paint can be a lot cheaper than coloured paint.

ha, that reminded me of how I decorated a house I rented. We moved in and it was a pink room. Son aged 6 didnt want his room pink....

what did I do? Mix water, some old dark blue paint i had left over, some old pale blue paint I had left over and some white paint.

Worked well and I kept the remainder of the paint for when we moved out 2 years later to touch up the room when we left

You can also buy white paint cheaper than some colours. Use tester pots to add colour to it. This is a good cheaper way of brightening up a room.
