i am going to do a car boto sale tomorrow morning, just about to load the car up. i have done rufforth and murton near york before. found rufforth busiest. there is a car boot at north cave, which is much closer to us, but have never been there, anyone got any experience of it? how does it compare? also any other suggestions near to york or hull, we are halfway between, selling a few unwanted wedding gifts, which are brand new, some clothing, few household bits and pieces, some dvds cds games etc, so usual car boot stuff i guess. any help appreciated

There is also one running on a Sunday in Wigginton, York, but not sure when it starts running as it is a season one. I'd Guess at April/May time for that one. There is also one running at the Knavesmire on Saturdays.
We have had a lot of success at Murton ourselves. We went with very little back in February and sold everything except about 4 small items, made £50 which was not bad for what we took.0 -
hi, what time did you start at murton? we live in market weighton so murton is an easy drive down the a1079, the one at north cave is even closer but i am unsure how busy it will be0

My dad used to be a semi professional car booter, he took early retirement and then did three a week.
At the time he had his own nursery so sold plants. He's haxby based, and is good friends with the owners of Wigginton carboot (Ken and Adele) it's a really good show.
I remember 13 years ago when it was empty, but now it is packed it can be difficult to shift stuff. Lots of stalls selling similar items, hot weekends around bank holidays are ones to avoid for children's toys/clothes as it is very residential around wigginton and too many people selling the same.
Others he did were Murton, and York race course on a Saturday.
He also did Hovingham, is on August bank holiday weekend.
He hasn't been doing carboots for about four years as he got sick of them, lots of time spent packing the car etc. Also he reckoned that there was too much competition. But a fortnight ago he did Murton and made £150 just clearing out the garage so was really pleased.OPs so far £42,139
