First time buyer... can I haggle on the price of a new home??

Yes :-D.
While I was looking for a property I drove past a new development and popped in to see what was for sale and the price. When greeted in the sales office I explained I was just passing and was interested. we sat down and she asked me for my budget. I told her 180k max. She told me the flats were 220k but she was sure they'd accept 180k. So there you go, 40k off 10mins after walkin thru the door before even seeing the show flat!0 -
Thanks everyone for your helpful posts. As a few of you have said, I too was concerned about the pay I get and whether I would be able to sustain mortgage payments or not. I would just really like to be independent now but if it is sensible to wait a few years, then I will.
Lottie176, it sounds like you got a fantastic deal, and it seems that some developers must be in need of quick sales.
Rest assured I would not go into any of this unless I was 100% sure I was able to keep up the repayments.
I am off to support the marathon runners now, but thanks again for all of your helpful suggestions and tips. Enjoy your weekend0
