I must say the one I got on Friday at Reading Napier Rd Tesco was actually quite a decent size, bigger than the one I paid full price for a few weeks back anyhow! Enough for sandwiches for lunch and a pasta meal for four people.

We had one of these on Thursday for lunch, dinner and sandwiches the next day, and my OH is a greedy beggar too! Anyway, for £2 its still cheaper than buying a raw small chicken and cooking it yourself, and a whole lot easier. And probably juicier too...

I was happy with the chicken, very juicy and although it looked quite small there was plenty of meat on it. Thanks OP.
  • Bought one during the week.... smaller than the norm but adequate for 2 salads and the legs and scraps for the dog.

Bought one in Thirsk on Thursday and was amazed at how small: weighed it after opening at home = 800g!
Bought 2 more this afternoon at York store - weighed them on the Self Checkout scales in store 785g and 810g! Let me guess at worst at 50 % weight loss during cooking - that's about 1.2KG - that's a small in my book.
That means i paid £4 for the equivalent of one reasonable chicken..great offer; net saving is nothing!
If they said "1/2 price cooked chicken £2" that would be fine...no complaints at all. But the use of the word "Large"...Tesco...you're avin a laugh, aincha!!!?

I asked the lady at the hot deli counter if these were the large chickens as advertisted she replied "no these are the chickens on offer at £2" she was clearly embarassed as I would be, what a joke that tesco thinks all it's customers are to stupid to notice !

At last, the Tesco 'sleepers' have shut down and normality returns.
