oh heck! Didnt wnt world war 3 to erupt!
As I said I cant say why I was sacked because it would give away who I am and I have no desire to do that.
I will check up re the tribunal and when aplication needs to go in - union guy will help with this Im sure; he is checking with sols next week so will know more then.
In terms of reemplyment I can see both sides; as someone who has employed people ad one through applications. While there may be people to employ woody they wouldnt necessarily have the skills and experience that I do and its not quite as simple as that. I am under no illusion that it wont be easy but then also know I have years of experience; considerable qualifications; excellent references (with one obvious exception) and questionable issues with the investgation.
I need to investigate re a compromise agreement and will speak to union next week.
Going to just try and relax for the eve...been a hard week and I just want to try and get myself togeather.
For woody and vaporate can you try and stop being so vicious to each other on here; if you want to exchange words then fine in private but please try and remember that this has been the worst week of my life to date; I stand to loose my house; career and a job I loved which is quite enough to deal with without you two having a go at each other...

Just offering a virtual hug, Ad. Sorry your thread has been hijacked by personal vendettas.

I would try for a compromise agreement if at all possible; let's worry about the rest once you have found that out.

New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

Without knowing why you were fired, there is no way of helping.

This has come up before though, and alot of the do-gooders will tell you that employers are understanding, and will look over this sacking when you apply elsewehere.
Unfortunately, the people that will no doubt tell you this on here, have never ran a business, interviewed anyone, employed anyone.

I run a business and obviously employ people, i can tell you with a good deal of certainty, that i would not employ anyone that was fired for Gross Misconduct.
    Here is why:
    - You are now a risk. Whatever you did to get fired, you may, in an employers eyes, do it again.
    - If you were employed again, and it went wrong, the employer would look foolish for taking the risk on you
    - This may be a problem for clients/customers if they found out (dependant on what you did)
    - There are SO MANY people to choose from now in the job market, why would an employer go out on a limb and move you to the top of their list of candidates

Sorry to sound harsh, but it's stark reality.
As i said, you will get the 'Right-On' crowd telling you that this isn't the case, but it is.

    Good Luck

I agree that many employers would do that, including myself. That's because of the type of work I do, which means that I have to be risk-averse.

However everyone I know who lost their job was able to find another sooner or later. May be starting from a lower position to build your references again. Also agencies are much more 'forgiving' as long as they think they can place you and get a good commission.

If you are in a senior position a compromise agreement may be an option (or if you are in a position to cause they hassle such as being a protected under discrimination legislation). If they have a strong case against you they may not be willing to pay you a lot of money, but may still be keen to get you sign away your right to take them to ET , in exchange for a good reference.

I guess I am what woody01 calls a do gooder, part of the right on crowd. :D
I have several jobs and my own company. The majority of work I do involves helping damaged people get back on track. I am not sure why this "do gooding" is frowned on by a large section of society but it seems to be.

Getting back into employment from a dismissal is possible it just depends on the sector you wish to work in. If you came to me I would listen to your story as it may be relevant in helping some of the people I tend to work with. Look for work in the community or voluntary sector.
Hopefully you will get the matter resolved anyway. Good luck!

If it's possible self employment may be a good way out of this. This is what my husband did after being dismissed for gross misconduct. He's been self employed for 6 years now and it's the best thing that ever happened to him work wise.
