I think praise should be due when appropriate:
hotels.com are refunding the bookings missed because of the volcanic ash cloud even if they were non-refundable :T
This and the quidco cashback will ensure I will be using them for my future bookings.

I've had a pretty similar experience with travelrepublic, the hotel only charged 1 night as a cancellation fee, which seeing as my insurance are refusing to pay out i'm happy with. Not only that but they have been very helpful with everything despite being massively busy0

I agree about travelrepublic
They have always been most helpful with any of my bookings0 -
Ditto Thomas Cook. Hotel booked via Trip Advisor website, TC's Terms and Conditions stated we would be charged one night's accommodation but in the event we were only charged £33. I can live with that!Normal people worry me.0

Although we did not book with Thomas Cook for the holiday we have just had (extended by 5 days due to volcanic ash, and not a "welcome" extension) we were in a Thomas Cook hotel and those who had booked a package with them were full of praise of their handling of the issue, in particular the extending of hotel booking without recourse to credit card. Seems some have come out of the Volcanic Ash situation looking far better than others (can't knock easyjet too much either on this one, even though we now need to claim stuff back, and their phone lines were down at the worst of it) but I thought that ryanair were appalling with their stance. Many people will not forget the treatment they got under difficult circumstances. sal xxx0
