Can you put a slimline dishwaser on a worksurface?

At the moment we have a compact, table top dishwasher which has gone kaput! We don't have room to put a dishwasher on the floor but I wondered if it was possible to put a slimline up on a worksurface. As we have a family of 5 the more dishwashing space we have the better.

I'd have thought it would be too heavy for the worktop to support, but you can still get the worktop dishwashers, Argos do them, so I bet other places do too.

Yeah! I know have had a look at that one and it has mixed reviews. The other thing with them is you don't get the efficiency, quietness, choice of programes etc. I mean 2 hours to wash dishes in a small DW is just ridiculous.
The only other one I can find is the one I have which broke down at 13 months. Don't particulrly want anothother of those.

There is NO reason why you cannot put a slimline dishwasher on a worktop, as long as the worktop is adequately supported, however have you considered how you will load and unload the top rack, as it will be at head height.

You will also need to raise the drain pipe so that it is more than approx 1/2 way up the dishwasher, otherwise it will empty by siphoning and never fill up.

Can you not remove a cupboard and put the dishwasher there and move that cupboard above the work surface where you are planning on putting the dishwasher?

Apart from how it will look up above the work surface the loading and unloading would certainly be an issue as Withabix mentions

My A* rated full sized dishwasher takes normally just over 2 hours to wash on normal program. The Eco wash mainly seems to be a rinse off and only suitable for pretty clean dishes and takes just under 30mins so not sure what you are expecting

If tyou have a small amount opf dishes then cheaper and easier to wash up!

There's a Bosch table top dishwasher that got a best buy award from Which. It's the skt5102 and cleans 6 place settings. All bosch products come with 2 years manufacturers.

It's not that cheap, around £330, but if your gonna use it for a few years it's definitely the pick of the market.
