As far as I know 50K is still the limit for UK Protection - does anyone know if that is going to increase within a year?

Seeing as we don't even know who the Government will be in less than two weeks, I doubt anyone will be able to predict anything like that accurately as far ahead as a year.0

Nobody knows, but I would not expect so. It would impose an additional cost on the banking industry, and would affect only a small number of relatively wealthy individuals.0

If you're worried about safety, then either put the money with NS&I or split it across different banking licences. If you're worried about returns if you do that, then consider investing some of it to remove the specific problem of bank failure (though obviously the investments carry other risks instead).I am a Chartered Financial Planner
