Advice needed!

I am a student and up until now have lived at home with my parents meaning I have not paid any rent.

Come September, I am in uni an awful lot more and in some mornings, some afternoons and some evenings. Therefore, I would like to move that little bit closer to uni (as currently I live over an hours drive away).

I would be looking to move in with my partner who currently has a house share. We would be looking to rent a 1 bedroomed property. We have had a look and we can find properties in the region of £450.

In order to ensure we can afford this (before we make the move) I would be interested to hear how much bills for a 1 bedroomed property would cost eg. council tax, electric, gas etc per month.

Thanks in advance:)

EPC should show costings of gas and electric...
they should be available for you to see before you sign anything.

council tax is likely to be band a so you can look that up on your local council's website
  • the council tax will have a 25% discount if you are a full time student

or will be 0 if you are both students

our flat is a two bed just electric no gas @ £30 per month
  • don't forget contents insurance!

My housemate and I pay £250 a month (£125 each) into an account for bills. This covers council tax (which alone is £145 a month), electric (we have no gas), water, tv licence, BT line rental, broadband and pet insurance for the cat.:D

Our apartment is 2 bed/2 bath, but I imagine costs for 2 people in a one bed (possibly excluding council tax, as others have said) might be comparible?
