Bank Accounts Frozen After Death

My father died in February and I went into Barclays Bank to inform them. When I took the funeral account in to be paid I asked if there had been any further payments into the account.
They said that there had been two attempted payments into the account but they had been returned. Appaerently no monies are allowed in or out of account after death.
I was surprised by this because it is not unreasonable to assume that someone may still have payments going into their bank account. I was able to trace one payment but not the other. It was for nearly £500 and the reference was SOUTHAMPTON CITY ISO.
They said they cannot trace it for me. It is not Council Tax and I really do not know how to find out about it but this is too much money to ignore and was obviously money owed to my father. How can I locate this money? Many thanks

At the date of death all payments are stopped. Any payments going into the account are sent back with a BACS message: Account holder deceased. That usually triggers them to send out mail to the executors of Mr John Smith, for example, at the address that they have on file. Do you have either mail forwarded or access to the property where your late father lived?0 -
Have you contacted Southampton City Council and asked for their help? Although it might not be Council Tax could it be housing benefit maybe? Ask to speak to someone in Exchequer services or similar as they will know what the "ISO" would stand for.0

Could it be Income Support Order.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thank you for your responses. Yes I do have a mail redirection set up. It would not be Income Support Order as my father would not have qualified. Was going to ring up the council so thank you for the advice on which department to call. I was wondering if it might be the extra allowance for heating or is that paid by the DWP?0

Heating and any other cold weather payments would come from the DWP. Don't assume that all mail is being redirected. These mail redirection arrangements are notoriously unreliable.0

Any one advise which is best- joint accounts or individual accounts ie does a joint account continue to pay bills eys if one holder dies? I believe individual accounts are frozen causing all sorts of problems with paymemts??0
