Purple frock :)

Morning all,

Well yesterday I bought dress number 3, and this is definitely the one :j

It's dairy milk purple as I had always wanted, it's very MSE in that it was 70% off the huge initial price, and it is FABULOUS!

it's bias cut, grecian kind of style with short sleeves (which seem to be unheard of on wedding dresses! :D) and a low back, and a little puddle train.

which leads me to think....

the style of dress would look gorgeous with a veil, but I'm not sure if an ivory veil would look quite right with it because of the colour. My shoes are ivory (bought them first and no way am I swapping them!) but won't really be on view, maybe just the toes when I am walking.

I just wondered what other people with coloured dresses were doing re. veils.

If I could get a matching colour veil a la Paula Yates I would consider it, but I think it would be very difficult. i am also quite small so disappearing under a cloud of purple may not be a great look!

Thanks x

Do you have to have a veil?

What about a big flower in your hair, or something with purple jewels on it?

An ivory veil with a purple dress wouldn't look right.

I'm planning on wearing purple but I think a purple veil might be a bit too much and somehow I just can't picture an ivory veil with a purple dress (or a red one come to that)....I agree with shellsuit that having a purple 'accessory' of some sort in your hair would be nicer and still very bridal

Ive got a blue dress and had the same issue - Ive decided so far on blue dress, black fascinator with abit of black veiling with blue feathers. Sounds mental...but looks super!

A veil would be lovely as long as it was the correct shape. ie. yoiu can buy tulle in various shades and have it made into a birdcage type veil. Something dramatic. I think traditional veil shapes would be wrong but that's only my opinion.

hi everyone, thanks for your input I really appreciate it :)

here's some pics of the dress :) (they are quite big, didnt know how to make them smaller)

it takes a bit of imagining as the mannequin is 5 foot 11 and I am 5 foot nothing, but the dress is cut magnificently and hangs beautifully over the lumps and bumps :rotfl:

I have fiddled with my hair and think I will have quite a low do, originally I wasnt going to wear it 'up' but it suits the dress I think. I have found a couple of beautiful vintagey style alice bands, so think I will try this.

thanks again for all your wise words.

Wow that is stunning. Any kind of veil may take the attention away from the really nice shoulder detail though, and possibly cover your bare back, I think something in or on your hair as you suggested is a good idea. Love that dress, though!
