Dubai, information needed please (not VAV related)

Hi all,

First time posting on this part of MSE.

My partner and I have significant birthdays plus anniversary this year so we are looking to go away in September (Volcanic ash permitting!)

We only have a week and are looking at Dubai. (12 to 17 sept) Club room booking B&B

However I am having an issue!

We have been recommended this hotel (rave reviews on Trip Advisor too) Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort which is on Fujairah beach (90mins from Dubai) On all the webs sites you can book the hotel in its own right but not as a package with flights and transfers, with wildly differing prices.

Also Fujairah has an airport of its own which would be better (no 90 min journey) but i can’t find any flights in to it?

I have never booked a package holiday, never mind flights and hotels separate, and am worrying about the cost + reliability from Dubai to hotel. If you book with a hotel would they arrange this for you? (for a fee obviously)
Also public transport into Dubai from Fujairah? I have googled but to no avail

I went in to two travel agents to see if they could help who (no offence to any agents reading) were less than helpful and kept steering me to their preferred hotels.

I left with a tonne of paperwork for hotels/flights I nether wanted or needed.
Anyone out there who can find me the best deal? Details re transfers and about tourists and public transport?

Thank you for your time.

If it's Dubai you want to see, Fujairah wouldn't be your best choice.
But if you just want to be in the UAE then it's ok.
If you look at tripadvisor they have forums about almost everything and everywhere.
If you have never done a diy holiday then it may be a bit daunting, and I doubt very much the hotel would do transfers from Dubai.

    Hi!

    Thanks for your reply.

I know the hotel is a away from Dubai Central but its seems wonderful and the reviews are great.

So i was looking to get the best of both, a hotel thats great and out of the hustle and bustle but travel in to dubai for a day or so to do the tourist stuff lol. (can you have your holiday cake and eat it?) :D

But as you say its a bit dauting doing DIY and due to the significance of the holiday I dont want to muck it up!

    Kind regards,

    Tygermoth

Public transport isnt that good in and around Dubai as most people use taxis as they are relatively cheap cos of the price of petrol out there...I think there has been a new transport system opened recently over there but not sure how far out of time it runs

Main carriers operating scheduled flights to Fujairah airport are Gulf Air (flights to Bahrain, Qatar, Muscat), Indian Airlines and Egypt Air.
The airport is close to the city centre. You can pick up a taxi outside the airport and the fare to your hotel will not cost more than a few dirhams
    There are no buses.

A quick google reveals that you can book this as a package through Virgin Holidays

Thanks for the pointer towards Virgin... however their prices as package are....£2,461.95 (with a hundred pound discount!) however all inclusive

So far been PMed with the holiday place - £769 pp B and B (no option to add all inclusive as far as i can see)

Can go any dates in sept.. (we moved the holiday forward a week on the one above as was cheaper

Probably because according to the route map they don't fly there!
