Hi, I am currently a full time student and am thinking about moving into a 1bed flat with my boyfriend. He is currently unemployed and claiming jobseekers and housing benefit, but will be starting college full time after the summer. I was just wondering what the effect of 'cohabiting' with him would be on both his benefits, and my student loan/bursray payments? I do have a small amount of savings as well (about 5000) and am hoping this won't affect anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.
Fiona

Full-time students aren't entitled to benefits unless they're disabled or are a lone parent.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I dont think students qualify for housing benefit so that will cease if you are both studying. Your student loan etc will be taken into consideration and his JSA may stop.0

his JSA will stop and therefore so will his housing benefit, if i were you both i would wait till he starts studying as he will have to sign off JSA then anyway0

If he is claiming contributions based JSA this won't be affected by your student income but any means tested benefits will be.0
