Enviroment policy

We are in the middle of assessing and doing our Company Enviroment policy,
and i was just wondering if anyone has got one written up, and what type of things is your company trying/aiming to achive.
Even though this policy isnt compulsary, more and more large companies/organisations are asking for an up to date copy of your company's Enviroment policy

Why are you doing this, who is it for. If it is for a funder then you need to find out what they are looking for. You can google it and lift whole sections to paste into your policy but it must be fit for purpose. You should talk about using building products from sustainanble sources, using local products and companies where possible commitment to recycling etc.0

our buisness is recycling:rotfl:
no it isnt for any sort of funding.... someone we have a contract with, wants a copy
and this is the first time we have been asked for our enviroment policy..
some of our enviroment points are, that we are keen to buy pre-owned/secondhand like office equipement, desks etc...in fact most of our office furniture we have had for free, as it was going to the landfil...lol..
we support and buy from local independant companies,
We recycle most of our waste....
we are very carefull with our electricity use....( this is also due to cost)
Plus in the future we will be looking at some sort of rewable energy to power some of our equipment
our transport has regular servicing...
Is there any other pointers that i should look at ?
so it would be interesting to see if anyone else has been asked for this, as by all accounts it is starting to be asked for quite a lot now, and it would be nice to hear about other companies enviroment policies, green credenialsWork to live= not live to work0 -
Maybe include how you dispose of the waste that you do produce - does it go to landfill or whatever?
Are you a member of the FSB and if so do you bank with the co-operative bank which is ethical banking.
I would look on google for environment policies or check the HSE website as they might have something there.0 -
Some companies commit to using recycled paper and other products as far as possible.Signature removed for peace of mind0

You could look at using EMAS and ISO 14001:2004 as the way forward.0

thanks.. we recycle as much as possible, and normally any waste generated from our clients, go back to our clients this is part of our agreements with them.
we havent bought a pen or pencil since we started, as they allways come into work with the product to be recycled:rotfl:
we currently buy the supermarkets own brand ( similar to Ecover) as its cheaper,Work to live= not live to work0 -
'Any waste generated by our clients goes back to our clients'
Thats a new one on me. Thought the idea of recycling was to remove the waste then find buyers for the sorted end-products.Never Knowingly Understood.

We recycled an Enviromental policy from elsewhere. We needed one for a tender we were quoting on and were able to adapt a policy of one of our suppliers. It is a simple policy statement with aims such as "Reduce energy useage by increased energy efficiency" and "re-use or recycle materials whan possible" All very generic stuff. [FONT="]

i know this sounded wired, but we only deal in a certain type of product, and if there is anything different mixed in with our product in goes back to source...i dont want to give too much details,
thanks paddy2eyes...
i have used an example policy on-line, and and tweaked it, and lengthened it , added what we do now, and what we aime to acheive in the future...Work to live= not live to work0 -
I havent been asked about an environment policy, but have been asked about my Corporate social responsibility policy.
I had never heard of it, but turns out I was doing it anyway, by donating 2 days consultancy a month to a charity.0
