Ok i am freecycling my Old car to get it out the way we are upgrading to a 7 seater and the head gasket has gone on the old rover so i can tbe bothered forking out for the repair (vehichle at present is stilL drivable just about).
My question is the MOT runs out on monday obviousley i have stated that in my add but if someone comes to collect it on say tuesday is there any come back on me if they decide to brake the law and drive it home or is it their sole responsability. If it can come back on me then i will insist they get it recovered other wise it is their own stupid fault i'm not their moral compass.
Thank you in advance :-)

When the buyer takes it away, just ask them to sign a disclaimer which says something like...
I fully understand this vehicle has no current MOT certificate.
If I decide to drive it, I take full responsibiliy for doing so.
(Rephrase it if you like.)0 -
I would get a signed receipt from the buyer stating "Sold as seen for spares or repairs only" then leave and go elsewhere before they drive it away. How were you to know if they driven away or trailered it away.
with the price of scrap now you should drive it to a scrap metal merchant tomorrow or monday, take the wheels off (scrappy charges £10 a tyre disposal but the council tip is free) and get it weighed in. Last time I did that I got £1200 -
Put the date and time on the receipt. try and check out the new owners details if you can. Proof of address.
A seller on ebay always asks for proof of insurance when selling cars that are taxed and MOTd.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I vaguely remember on MOT certificates they used to say on the back the circumstances under which you could drive a car without a valid MOT, something like on the way to an MOT test and going to get repaired for an MOT, but I honestly don't know what the situation is when you are selling/freecycling.
Scrapyard is a good idea as well!0 -
As said weigh it in for scrap I got £145 recently for a Mondeo.Google gives you answers use it.........0

You must have a pre-booked MOT test to drive it without one. They now phone and check.
Seen it on cop show on TV, ANPR picked the car up as uninsured, No tax or MOT. Guy was taking it for an MOT 40 miles away. Strange that the MOT station was near where the guy lived.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
