Problem with Kitchen and Bathroom Fitting - South Wales

We have recently employed a friend of ours to fit our kitchen and bathroom. We put our total trust in him to choose an electrician, plumber, plasterers etc.

Seven weeks later, we are still trying to finish the kitchen.

Firstly he made all the cuttings in the wall for all electrical chasing, we bought all the required switches, mounting boxes, cabling etc and he put them in place ready for an electrician to come and do the wiring.

The electrician has been back and forth over the last few weeks working as instructed by our kitchen fitter. We have a new rcd board and had practically new electrics in the kitchen.

Kitchen fitter put up a new ceiling. The plasterers he asked to come and do work never showed, so we looked and found some ourselves through mybuilder and they did a great job.

I regret asking someone we know do it as find it hard to complain when he makes mistakes. The worktop was chipped when he was cutting a hole for hob so now it looks awful. I will need to buy a new worktop and have it done again. Tiling on the floor isn’t finished or sealed and the units still need all the end panels, trims etc. Splashback/tiles on wall need doing.

To top it all off the electrician who did the work finished yesterday and was paid. However, we asked him for paperwork/certification and he now tells us he is not qualified to certify the work he did and seems uninterested to help us get any. I am worried sick and have no idea what to do now. We put our trust in this friend and it seems he had told the electrician we didn’t want certification etc. At no point did we tell him we wanted this done like this and wanted it all done properly from the beginning. There is still loads to finish off and we can’t do that until we have the electrics problem sorted. I will be telling our friend we no longer want him to finish the job and certainly don’t want him to touch our bathroom.

Please can someone offer us some advice? We are in Pontypridd.
