I'd go softly as you don't know what you have signed. He does sound disorganised!

However I dont think it is fair that he, or the other flatmates, have to pay extra because your room was unoccupied - the place still needed heating, and your room was not available to be re-let.

Morally I believe you should pay an equal share of the bills.

He is, hes lost all his records as to whos paid what apparently, just unfortunate i pay most things through my bank rather than by cash.

I try and keep the heat off if possible, thats why i think they went crazy and left it on all the time.

Thanks for all your help though

Deal with this whole debacle in writing by recorded delivery NOT in a meeting where you have no proof of what was agreed. Your landlord telling you to go home is irrelevant, either in your tenancy agreement it states you are liable for a share of the bills or not so write and ask for a copy! You really should not be wanting any of this to go to court as costs will be added and you may or may not find yourself liable for a share. No idea why you couldn't speak with your housemates for the two months you were away, don't you have each others mobile numbers??
